Gold Dust ・ 金粉

The part to be gilded will be lacquered in red, because gold is shining stronger on red than on other lacquer. Then gold dust is dusted on it and distributed with a soft brush. After drying it is hardened with unrefined fine lacquer mixed with terpentine.

Silver Dust ・ 銀粉

Silver dust is applied the same way as gold dust, but instead of red lacquer usually urefined and black lacquer are used together below.

The silver dust is also hardened by applying fine unrefined and black lacquer thinned with terpentine on it. The terpentine make the lacquer dry faster and drip between the dust.
